About Our Practices

Our ruminant animals, Angus Cattle and Gulf Coast/Katahdin cross Sheep, live on pasture and graze pasture forage only. Pasture forage can include a variety of grasses, plants, and leaves from bushes and trees. They move daily to a new pasture. This helps them and our pasture soil stay healthy by not overgrazing any one area. Their water is pumped daily from a 400 ft deep well and is cool and refreshing.

As supplements, they have free choice access to self-regulate their health, as needed:

  • Organic garlic granules – immunity boost & deters flies
  • Sea-90 Ocean Mineral – natural mineral & trace element salt, mixed in a trough of fresh well water for fast cellular absorption
  • Natural Baking Soda – helps animals with digestion and can prevent stomach issues
  • Apple Cider Vinegar – improves digestion & immunity; a natural parasite control

Our heritage poultry breeds are raised together for immunity and predator protection.

  • Barred Plymouth Rock Chickens – Considered one of the best dual-purpose breeds, providing eggs, meat, and chicks for those wanting to raise their own
  • Red Bourbon Turkeys – Provide holiday meat & new poultry for those who want to raise their own
  • Silver Saddle Back Geese – Are beautiful & funny to watch. Most importantly, they help protect the other birds from overhead predators, while our Livestock Guardian Dogs take a much-needed rest during the day.

Their mobile coop allows them free-range access to pastures that our cattle and sheep have recently grazed. They love all the natural things found on the pasture. To keep them healthy, they also have free-choice availability of non-GMO organic poultry feed, and Apple Cider Vinegar is added to their fresh well water to aid digestion and keep them parasite-resistant. They also receive treats of black soldier fly larvae and organic blue corn scratch.

We use roll away nest boxes so their eggs and their natural bloom stay clean and undisturbed.

Our Livestock Guardian Dogs, Woody & Jesse, are integral to our operation and busy all night protecting the ranch animals from predators. They are fed a raw diet and a natural anti-parasite supplement.
